A varied spiritual a cappella program awaits you under the title "Himmelhoch jauchzet...": The concert begins and ends jubilantly with Schütz and Mendelssohn's "Jauchzet dem Herrn". However, the jubilation is interrupted by double choir lamentations and requests, as in Mendelssohn's op. 78 and Brahms' op. 110 "But I am miserable". In addition to the canonically established composers already mentioned, the romantic composer Amy Beach will also be heard.
A 10-minute premiere by the Berlin-based composer Rory Wainwright Johnston, who also composed for the RIAS Chamber Choir, complements the program with a contemporary musical language in the setting of a jubilant "Glorias".
The encore includes an arrangement of "Amazing Grace" written by Justin Doyle, chief conductor of the RIAS Chamber Choir.
